Digging The Dirt For A Friend
MANITOUWADGE, ON – June 24th and 25th the final of 6 fundraising beach volleyball tournaments was held at the Lion’s Beach. For their efforts; playing hard, laughing harder and sometimes even getting a few mouthfuls of beachsand, the organizers raised $820 this year – Wow, great job! (During the past 6 year of hosting these annual fundraising tournaments, thousands of dollars have been raised to assist the local man for which this particular tournament was being held and/or the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group.
Current and past Manitouwadge High School Wolverines team mates, parents and teachers as well as ladies from the open volleyball league and others wanting to help participated in the fun tournaments putting together teams of 3 who faced off in the sand for rounds of 2 games to 15. Funds raised were to assist a local man who has been battling cancer for several years, a friend of many of the players who has inspired many with the courage with which he continues to fight back against the disease.820 dollars was raised this year in the 3 on 3 Volleyball Fundraiser.
In the end there were plenty of laughs throughout the weekend and Team RAMROD claimed the title of Manitouwadge’s 2011 Beach Volleyball Champs.
